Google and BIDMC report real-world clinical study results for AMIE, an AI diagnostic chatbot tested with urgent-care patients

Google researchers, in collaboration with BIDMC, conducted a real-world clinical study of AMIE with 98 patients before urgent primary care visits. The coverage reports that AMIE’s differential diagnoses matched clinicians’ final diagnoses in 90% of cases, that no safety-interruption events were triggered under predefined criteria, and that clinicians found the AI summaries helpful in many cases while changing care approaches in over half.
