AWS released TorchNeuron, a native PyTorch backend for running Hugging Face AI models on AWS Trainium chips

AWS and Hugging Face announced TorchNeuron, a development tool that adds a native PyTorch backend for AWS Trainium so Hugging Face libraries can run Transformers and Diffusers directly on the Neuron device using the same PyTorch code paths. The tools are in public beta with a scheduled availability date, and the announcement highlights improved support for text-generation model architectures compared with an earlier Optimum Neuron backend.
