Import AI 451: Political superintelligence; Google's society of minds, and a robot drummer
Import AI 3 months ago
Stanford political economy professor Andy Hall argues that AI systems could provide "political superintelligence"—tools helping citizens and institutions better understand policy tradeoffs and contest power—but only through intentional design of information, representation, and governance layers. Realizing this vision requires AI companies to invest in transparency tools, develop oversight mechanisms, and establish standard APIs for society to interact with and steer these systems. Without such institutional work, powerful AI systems built for political analysis risk remaining controlled by private companies rather than serving democratic processes.
