OpenAI co-founded the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation and donated AGENTS.md, a specification for building AI agents. The foundation aims to establish open standards that enable different agentic AI systems to work together safely. Industry adoption of interoperable agent standards could reduce vendor lock-in and accelerate development of AI applications that operate autonomously across multiple platforms.
