AI’s day-to-day story is getting less romantic and more operational, and Anthropic is setting the tone. The company rolled out its Anthropic Cyber Mission with tools like OSS Scanner that will run periodic security checks on open-source projects and, it says, hit a true-positive rate above 90%. It’s also tightening Claude’s usage policy: explicit bans now cover election interference, weapons software, surveillance, and sustained abusive behavior, with the update taking effect November 12. Anthropic isn’t just talking about guardrails—it’s paying for them too, committing $150 million over three years to its U.S. federal Genesis Mission so Claude Code and API credits can support work across more than a dozen participating agencies.
