Thalia is a free Mac app for Muse Code. It makes every command wait for approval, and even tiny edits break the review snapshot.

Thalia is a free native Mac app built for Meta’s Muse Code CLI, and it’s clearly aimed at people who want an AI agent on a shorter leash. The pitch is simple: plan first, approve second, review the result before anything slips through unchecked.

In Plan mode, Muse is restarted in read-only mode until the plan gets the green light. Every command is surfaced in full, step by step, before the user hits Allow. That sounds a lot less magical than the usual agent demo, which is exactly the point.

Review mode goes one step further. It lets users run their own checks and approve the exact snapshot they saw. If anything changes after that, the snapshot is invalidated. No pretending the code is still the same when it isn’t.

Thalia also bundles checkpoints, MCP connectors, voice mode, and an embedded terminal. It uses the user’s own Muse access, sends no telemetry, and works on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 27. The app is launching today, and it already has 5 followers on Product Hunt.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right instinct: less “trust the agent” theater, more receipts. AI coding tools keep asking for blind faith, then act surprised when people want control over the mess they’re about to ship. Thalia is basically the grown-up version of the category, which is a compliment and a small indictment of the rest of it.
