Snyk laid off more than 200 people, not the 90 first reported. At the same time, its 2025 revenue passed $300m, even as losses grew.

Snyk has quietly cut deeper than anyone knew. A new Companies House filing says the cybersecurity company laid off about 203 employees in June, more than double the roughly 90 people media reports had suggested at the time. The filing says that was about 20 per cent of the group’s global workforce. Snyk said the cuts would cost up to $13.8m.

The company’s latest accounts also show a business still growing, just not cleanly. Revenue rose 11 per cent to $309m in the year ending 2025, helped by new customer wins. Losses, though, widened from $169m to $189m as Snyk kept spending on the business.

That puts the company in a familiar spot for a lot of security and AI-adjacent firms: growth on one side, discipline on the other. Snyk, founded in 2015 in London and Tel Aviv and now based in Boston, says it helps software developers find security weaknesses before attackers do. It has also pushed into AI security, buying Invariant Labs in 2025.

The company has raised more than $1bn, was valued at $8.5bn in 2021 and $7.4bn in 2022, and has already gone through several rounds of job cuts. This latest filing suggests the pain was bigger than first reported. Snyk declined to comment.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the modern startup bargain in one neat little file: raise a billion, grow revenue, then quietly trim a fifth of the staff and call it efficiency. Investors love the top line, until the payroll shows up. Snyk is just the latest reminder that “AI security” and “operational discipline” are often doing very different jobs in the same deck.
