Summary, retelling and take written by AI under human oversight; images are AI-generated illustrations. How we work · Report an error

Rushilo is a new video editor for Mac and Windows that lets an AI drive the cutting. You connect Claude Code or Codex, pick a clip, and tell it what to do: trim, split, add captions, cut filler words, resize, or export. The selling point is not magic, but control. Every change shows up on a visible timeline, and you can undo it.

The app leans into practical editing work instead of flashy generative tricks. On Mac, it can screen record with auto zoom. It also uses on-device Whisper for captions, which keeps that part local rather than pushing it somewhere else. And if you want to publish right away, there’s direct YouTube upload.

Rushilo says it ships no AI of its own. That means no credits system, because the subscription or your own keys pay for the model use. Files also stay on your disk, which will matter a lot more to some editors than whatever logo is on the homepage.

The pricing is blunt: $99 once, for 3 computers. In a market packed with subscription creep and vague “AI video” promises, that’s a pretty clear pitch. Either you want an editor that listens to prompts and still behaves like software you can inspect, or you don’t. There doesn’t seem to be much room for pretending otherwise.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the rare AI editor pitch that sounds like it was written by someone who has actually cut video. No credits circus, no hand-wavy cloud fog, just a tool that stays on the timeline and leaves the files alone. The industry could use more of that and fewer “AI-powered” prices built like a tax on impatience.
