Reve generates and edits native 4K images with object manipulation and text rewriting

Reve, the AI image startup that's been quietly building an editing-first alternative to Midjourney and DALL-E, pushed out an update that lets users generate and manipulate images natively at 4K resolution. That's not upscaled 4K, the kind where a model dreams up a 1024-pixel image and then runs it through a sharpening filter. This is baked-in high resolution from the first generation pass, which matters if you've ever tried to print or crop an AI image and watched it fall apart at the edges.

The bigger deal, though, is the editing suite wrapped around that resolution bump. Users can now grab an object in a scene and move it, resize it, or recolor it without regenerating the whole image from scratch, something that's historically been the weak point of diffusion-based tools. Sketch-to-image lets you doodle a rough shape and have Reve turn it into a finished visual. There's also a reference system for swapping in specific people, styles, or locations, and a template mode aimed at people who want to change one variable, a product shot, a background, a color scheme, and let the AI handle the rest.

Text rendering gets specific attention too. Anyone who's asked an AI image generator to put readable words on a sign or a t-shirt knows the usual result: a smear of almost-letters. Reve's update includes the ability to rewrite text directly inside a generated image, which suggests they've built something closer to actual typography handling rather than treating text as just another texture pattern.

There's also a reframe tool for changing aspect ratio after the fact, essentially a re-shoot function that adjusts composition rather than just cropping and losing content. Combined with what Reve calls live layers, for compositing text and images into finished graphics, the whole package reads less like an image generator and more like a lightweight Photoshop replacement built around AI as the primary interaction layer, not a bolt-on feature.
