Referent is a new legal practice management tool aimed at lawyers and law firms that want more automation without stitching together a pile of separate products. It’s being pitched as AI-native, which is doing a lot of work here, but the actual menu is straightforward: legal AI, legal CRM, client intake, matter management, documents, deadlines, email workflows, follow-ups, and billing prep.

That mix tells you what the product is really trying to replace. A law firm’s day is often less dramatic than TV makes it look and more about keeping client work moving, chasing replies, tracking dates, and getting the billing side in order before things slip. Referent is built around that kind of grind.

The Product Hunt listing puts the emphasis on turning “any law firm” into an AI-native law firm. That’s a broad promise, and broad promises are common whenever a tool wraps itself in AI branding. But the underlying idea is not hard to understand: make the admin stack less fragmented and let the software carry more of the routine back-and-forth.

The launch also sits inside Product Hunt’s usual mix of productivity and SaaS releases, with a paid promotion from Viktor.com appearing alongside it. So this is as much a product positioning moment as a software one. Still, the pitch is clear enough. Referent wants to be the place where legal work, client handling, and billing prep stop living in separate tabs.
