NOVA CLI v1.0

Product Hunt Bridgeye

NOVA CLI v1.0 is an AI coding tool that works inside your terminal. It can write files, run tests, fix errors, and even commit code for you.

Summary, retelling and take written by AI under human oversight; images are AI-generated illustrations. How we work · Report an error

NOVA CLI v1.0 is trying to do more than sit beside your editor and whisper suggestions. The pitch is blunt: describe the task in plain words, and the tool takes a run at the codebase itself. It reads the project, makes changes, runs tests and builds, fixes what breaks, and then tells you what it actually checked.

That matters because the old AI-coding loop is still mostly a loop. Write code, run it, hit an error, paste the error into ChatGPT, patch it, repeat. NOVA is aiming at the annoying middle of that process. Instead of making the chat window closer, it wants to move the work into the terminal.

The launch version splits that work into a few named actions. Build means describing a goal and letting NOVA write the files. Auto-Heal runs your code and tries to fix errors automatically. Janitor handles refactors on demand. Git support is built in too, with commit, push, and pull available from the terminal.

There’s also a convenience angle. Paid plans include 160+ AI models, and there’s no separate AI account or API key setup to juggle. NOVA is also meant to work with the tests and tools you already use, which is the sort of promise that sounds simple until you’ve lost an afternoon wiring up something “smart” that doesn’t fit your stack. The product page says you can try it for free.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right instinct: fewer suggestions, more doing. Most AI coding tools still behave like enthusiastic interns with excellent recall and terrible follow-through. The real test isn’t whether a model can chat about code; it’s whether it can survive contact with your tests without making the terminal feel like a crime scene.
