Musk’s A.I. company is bundling Grok, Cursor and X into one paid plan. It’s another push toward a Musk-flavoured super app, with some catches.

Elon Musk’s A.I. company is scrapping the patchwork pricing and putting Grok, the Cursor coding editor and X Premium under one umbrella called The X Subscription. The company said so in a blog post. There’s also Grok Bot in the package, pitched as an A.I. teammate that can finish tasks on its own.

The new bundle comes in five tiers. Free gets limited daily access to Grok plus a small amount of Cursor. Plus costs $8 a month, Premium is $30, Super is $100 and Ultra is $200. SpaceXSI says each step brings more usage, with Super offering 15 times the Plus usage and Ultra 50 times. Premium is the interesting one: the company says it folds in SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, which together used to cost $90 a month.

Existing customers can move over in account settings and get a prorated refund. The rollout is worldwide. There’s also a shared usage pool for Grok and Cursor that resets every week, though it only applies to the company’s own Grok models. If someone wants third-party models inside Cursor, they still need at least Premium and must pay extra through top-ups at API list prices.

That dependency matters, because the bundle is not as self-contained as the branding suggests. OpenAI is cutting off Cursor’s access to its models, with the deadline set for November. And Grok Bot itself is already leaning on outside models too, including Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5.

This is very much part of the bigger Musk shuffle. xAI has been folded into SpaceX, then renamed SpaceXAI over the summer, and the company is now set to be called SpaceXSI. SpaceX also bought Anysphere, the maker of Cursor, and in August the two sides launched Grok Bot as their first joint product. Starlink Mobile sits on the side of all this, but it isn’t part of the new subscription.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is classic Musk: bundle first, explain the plumbing later. The real story isn’t “super app” theatre, it’s that the package still depends on other people’s models when the company’s own tech runs out of road. That’s not a flaw in the pitch — it is the pitch.
