mRNA cancer vaccine succeeded in Phase 3 melanoma trial, Moderna and Merck say

Moderna and Merck said their tailored mRNA cancer vaccine worked in a Phase 3 melanoma trial. The trial enrolled 1,137 patients with stage IIB–IV melanoma, randomly assigned 2-to-1 to vaccine plus Keytruda versus Keytruda alone. This result changes the outlook for individualized mRNA cancer vaccines by providing a reported first Phase 3 success and moving them closer to broader cancer therapy use.
