Glovo is trying to turn its own startup story into a conveyor belt for the next batch. At its Yellow Park HQ in Barcelona, the Spanish tech company held the fourth edition of Startup Campus, a three-day programme for early-stage and high-potential founders. This year’s group brought in 19 startups and 33 founders and team members from across Germany, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Moldova, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Tunisia and Ukraine.

The pitch from co-founder Sacha Michaud was simple: Glovo had to learn the hard way, so now it wants to pass the shortcuts on. The company is presenting itself as a “local digital ally” for founders from emerging tech ecosystems, giving them access to mentors, investors and people who have already built and scaled companies before.

The bigger headline came from a new report by Delivery Hero and Dealroom. According to that research, alumni from Delivery Hero’s European brands have gone on to found 150 startups with an estimated combined value of €7.5 billion. Delivery Hero now claims the title of Europe’s largest founder factory by number of next-gen startups, ahead of Klarna, Zalando and Spotify. Glovo’s slice of that picture is 35 startups worth an estimated €461 million.

Startup Campus itself is more than a pep talk. Founders sat through masterclasses, workshops and feedback sessions with Glovo’s own Oscar Pierre and Michaud, plus partners including Endeavor Spain, ACCIÓ and the Polish Development Fund. The final pitch panel included people from Endeavor, ACCIÓ, BBVA Spark and Encomenda Smart Capital.

The winner was .lumen, a Romanian startup building pedestrian autonomous driving AI glasses for visually impaired people. Granter, from Portugal, took second place with AI tools for grant consulting, and Spain’s Bleecker Technologies came third with computer-vision inventory tracking using patented visual codes. All three will keep getting advice from Michaud. Since Startup Campus began in 2023, Glovo says it has hosted 53 startups, run more than 20 local Power Up competitions and reached more than 1,000 people.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

Glovo has figured out the nicest kind of corporate self-interest: build founders up, then call it ecosystem support. Fine. That’s still better than the usual tech-company hobby of hoarding talent, and the €7.5 billion number shows why these alumni networks matter more than another empty innovation slogan.
