Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards, a beta tool that builds live dashboards from enterprise data. It shows the SQL behind each number and can hand off to BI tools.

Anthropic just shipped its own answer to the dashboard rush. Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, and it does the same basic trick OpenAI’s data agent started pushing about a month ago: connect a data source, ask a plain-English question, and get something usable back without living inside SQL all day.
The pitch is transparency as much as automation. Every number in a dashboard can be clicked to reveal the query that produced it. If that’s still too much database syntax, Claude can explain the figure in plain language. The dashboards also update as the underlying data changes, with a timestamp on each chart showing when it was last refreshed.
Anthropic is plugging into enterprise systems such as Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift and ClickHouse, plus existing connectors like Salesforce. And it is not pretending this replaces serious BI software. Users who want to go further can move work into tools like Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, monday.com, Omni, PostHog or Sigma, with Looker, Perplexity and Tableau support still coming later.
The competition story matters here. OpenAI’s Data agent already works with Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, MongoDB, Snowflake and Datadog, and Anthropic says Claude Dashboards will also support semantic models when those are exposed through a connector. Both companies are clearly chasing the same enterprise money, not just the model layer. Snowflake and Databricks are part of that fight too, with their own natural-language analytics tools on the market.
Anthropic also used the announcement to widen Claude’s creative toolkit. Claude Motion turns a quarterly update or a board-deck chart into a short animated clip by writing code rather than using a video model, and it can export to MP4. Docs, Slides and Design are now out of beta, and Anthropic says users have already created more than 45 million documents, decks and designs since those features opened up.
My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting
This is exactly where the AI vendors are headed: from chat boxes to plumbing for corporate work. Dashboards are useful, sure, but the real prize is sitting between the data warehouse and the executive who wants a clean answer by lunch. That’s not glamorous. It is, however, where the invoices live.
