Aside is trying to turn the browser into a worker, not just a window. It can sign into your accounts, use websites directly, and carry out messy jobs end to end — messages, payments, internal tools, even local files.

That’s the pitch, anyway, and it’s aimed squarely at the gap between chatbots that talk well and software that actually gets things done. Aside says it was rebuilt for both people and agents, which is a neat way of saying it wants to sit in the middle of your normal web life and automate the parts you’d rather not repeat.

The company is also leaning hard on polish. There are vertical tabs, Liquid Glass, and a design that sounds more Apple-adjacent than the average automation tool. The bigger claim is under the hood: Aside says it is state of the art on agentic browsing benchmarks and beats Claude Cowork.

Privacy is a big part of the appeal. Aside says everything runs locally and is encrypted, and users can bring their own Claude or ChatGPT subscription instead of starting from scratch inside yet another closed system. That combination — local processing, familiar subscriptions, and browser-level autonomy — is clearly meant to make the whole thing feel less like a demo and more like something people might actually trust with work.
