Arc

Product Hunt Mamata

Arc puts AI on top of the apps you already use, now on Android and Mac. It reads the screen, so you don’t have to copy and paste between apps.

Arc is trying to make AI feel less like a separate destination and more like a layer sitting on top of everything else. The app now works on Android and Mac, and it can read whatever is on the screen instead of asking people to drag text into a chatbot first.

That matters because the whole pitch is friction. Arc can be called up over an app, then used to summarize articles, chats, emails and docs, rewrite messages in the right tone, and even read any screen aloud. It also offers one-tap actions that do things like fact check an article, analyze a sheet, or estimate calories from a food photo.

The new version adds a bigger set of tools around that core idea. Arc now has more than 500 community actions, plus Info Vault, which lets AI Writer fill in a user’s own details. There’s also AI Call Analysis, Flashcards generated from anything you read, and Smart Extract for pulling data off the screen.

Arc says it can also automate repetitive steps across apps, which is the real promise here: less app switching, less copying, less mechanical work. The service is free to start, and this is its second launch from Arc AI Screen Assistant. That sounds like a product still finding its shape, but the direction is clear enough.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the sort of AI product that actually deserves attention: fewer prompts, more doing. The industry keeps selling chat as a destination when most people just want the annoying bits gone. Overlay AI is practical, which is a rare and refreshing thing in a field that loves its own reflection.
