Anker announces its first over-the-counter hearing aids

Anker has stepped into hearing aids with its first over-the-counter model, announced at IFA 2026 and expected in the coming months. The timing is awkward in one way and useful in another. LXE Hearing, which owns Eargo and Lexie Hearing, said only a couple of months ago that it was ending US operations and leaving the OTC hearing-aid market. That leaves room for someone else to move in.

The new product uses a receiver-in-canal design, so the main body sits behind the ear. Anker says it’s built around the Thus chip, a piece of hardware the company announced in April and first used in the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro earbuds. On those earbuds, Anker says the chip delivers the best voice isolation it has heard on any audio product.

That’s a bold claim to carry into hearing aids, where speech clarity is the whole point. But the basic setup is clear enough: Anker is taking a chip it already put in consumer audio gear and pushing it into a far more sensitive category.

The company hasn’t said much more yet, beyond the fact that the hearing aids are coming soon. So for now, the story is less about specs than about a gap in the market opening just as Anker decides to walk through it.
