The biggest thread today was the move from “chat” to agents that actually run inside everyday software—and Microsoft put that shift on the Windows desktop, not in a demo. With new Copilot changes and Windows Execution Containers, the company is pitching hybrid “agentic AI” as something that can run locally or in the cloud under OS-managed sandbox rules. The Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA’s RTX Spark chip starts at $2,599 (ship date Oct. 16), while the $6,000 Surface RTX Spark Dev Box aims at developers who want controllable, containerized automation rather than loosely governed model access. It’s the same direction other teams are taking—just with Windows as the glue and cost as the constraint.
