AI spending is finally showing up where CFOs can count it: in memory chips. Samsung Electronics is forecasting quarterly operating profit of 107.4 trillion won (about $80 billion) for the three months ending September, a nine-fold jump from a year earlier. The catalyst is surging demand from AI data centers, where higher memory prices and strong earnings from AI-linked DRAM and related products are pulling results upward ahead of full earnings later in October.
