Shopify began migrating its consumer mobile apps from React Native to full native implementations using an internal migration system and AI-assisted development workflows

Shopify reported that it is moving away from its prior React Native cross-platform approach and rebuilding major mobile apps using native development (e.g., Swift and Kotlin). The company says an internal “Helix” system supports screen-by-screen migrations with automated comparisons and fast agent-assisted review and testing, enabling a proof-of-concept to reach a native production release within about 12 weeks for one consumer app.
