NASA and Axiom Space announce a partnership

Partnership Provisional 72% confidence first seen

Ars Technica reports that NASA decided to work with Axiom Space to develop a “Sortie Suit” variant of its planned lunar spacesuit for Artemis early surface missions. The coverage says the partnership is aimed at simplifying and reducing the mass of the suit and interfaces with lunar landers, supporting initial landings on landers built by SpaceX and Blue Origin. This matters because it’s intended to help NASA accelerate its Artemis timeline toward human lunar landings, including at the Moon’s South Pole potentially as early as 2028.
