Nvidia’s $12.93 billion acquisition of Hugging Face is the day’s loudest signal that “open models” are becoming infrastructure. The deal, completed September 2, moves the French-founded platform entirely into US ownership, just as Hugging Face itself reports a library of more than 3 million models and roughly 18 million developers.
