Christian Schaller used AI tooling to study and compare Windows driver behavior against Linux, then applied kernel/libcamera and SANE-related changes to get a Plustek OpticFilm 8200i scanner and a ThinkPad MIPI camera working on Linux. He released the approach and supporting materials as an open-source “hw-harness” toolkit and reported improvements to scan performance and working Linux support, including features like infrared dust removal.
