OpenAI has instituted a weekly policy where employees can opt to spend Thursdays on self-directed technical skill development outside their regular project work. The company dedicates one day per week, every Thursday, to this structured learning time. This allows staff to build capabilities relevant to their roles that wouldn't naturally develop through daily job tasks alone.
