Coral NPU: A full-stack platform for Edge AI

Google introduced Coral NPU, a full-stack hardware and software platform designed to run AI models efficiently on battery-powered edge devices like smartwatches and AR glasses. The architecture delivers performance in the 512 gigaoperations per second range while consuming only a few milliwatts, and Synaptics announced the first production implementation with their Astra SL2610 processors. The platform enables always-on ambient AI applications including voice detection, gesture recognition, and real-time translation while keeping personal data private and offline.
