Qwen3 Embedding: Advancing Text Embedding and Reranking Through Foundation Models

Alibaba's Qwen team released Qwen3 Embedding, a series of text embedding and reranking models built on the Qwen3 foundation model and open-sourced under Apache 2.0 license. The 8B embedding model ranks first on the MTEB multilingual leaderboard with a score of 70.58 as of June 5, 2025. The models support over 100 languages, flexible vector dimensions, and user-defined instructions for text retrieval and reranking tasks.
