Aeon closes funding round and acquires Aware Health’s assets

Startups Magazine Roshini Bains Covered by 2 sources

Aeon raised more money and bought Aware Health’s core assets. It’s trying to fuse scans, blood tests, and AI into one long view of your health.

Aeon has closed a seed extension and picked up the core assets of Aware Health, the Germany-based blood diagnostics platform. The Switzerland-based preventive health company is betting that the combination will move it closer to a single product that can track a person’s health over time, not just at one appointment.

That is the pitch: whole-body imaging paired with recurring blood diagnostics, with AI doing the stitching. Aeon says its system updates records every quarter, using MRI-style structural insight on one side and repeated blood tests on the other to show both a snapshot and the longer trend behind it. The company says its models can spot patterns, flag changes early, and predict individual risk before disease shows up.

The numbers Aeon is leaning on are already strong enough to make investors listen. More than 90% of its check-ups surface findings customers can act on, and 15.4% are significant findings. The seed extension takes total seed funding to more than $14 million, with Araya Ventures co-leading the round alongside existing backers Concentric, GoHub Ventures, Kadmos Capital, Calm/Storm Ventures, N&V Capital, and Bigwave Capital.

The Aware Health acquisition brings in more than a product line. Aeon gets a regulated diagnostics stack, live lab integrations, a network of more than 45 blood-draw locations, more than 100 biomarkers, and nearly 10,000 active customers. For Aeon’s AI plans, the big prize is the longitudinal biomarker dataset from recurring testing — the kind of raw material predictive models tend to crave.

Aeon also hired Pablo Tano as AI Lead. He will work on the platform’s intelligent layer, which reads across imaging, blood biomarkers, and genetic data to produce personalised risk prediction and tailored interventions. Customer data will only move with explicit individual consent and under GDPR, which is the sort of sentence every healthcare startup now has to earn its keep with.

My take — AI-written commentary, not fact-checked reporting

This is the right kind of healthcare ambition: less wellness theatre, more actual data stitched together. Europe has plenty of cautious, fragmented health tech; Aeon is going for the rarer bet that a bigger, messier dataset is exactly the point. The real test is whether all this AI ends up helping people act sooner, or just producing very expensive charts with excellent typography.
