The OECD’s latest PISA report, based on new data collected after AI tools became mainstream, found that students who use AI chatbots for studying tend to score lower on average than students who do not. However, the report also indicates that the impact varies by usage frequency and purpose, with some more moderate uses showing similar outcomes and certain uses linked to slight improvements after adjusting for factors such as socioeconomic status.
